Dear Santa,
I know what you are thinking. Do atheists even celebrate Christmas? Well, I just want to let you know that yes, some of us do and that it would be nice if you don’t forget about us. See, Christmas to me, and probably to many others like myself, is a time for getting together with friends and family, giving, and taking a break from all the stresses in life.
I know you may also be thinking “well if you don’t believe in Jesus why would you believe in me?” Well Santa, that’s simple. There’s proof of you! Who else would leave ALL those presents for us?! As far as I’ve experienced, that’s way more proof than Jesus or “god” ever gives.
Anyway, I know you’re probably busy with all those kids to visit so here goes my list of things I’d like for Christmas this year:
1. World peace
2. Happiness for everyone
3. Eradication of all human diseases
4. Removal of religion in society (because it interferes with #1, among other things)
5. Elimination of world hunger
6. Suppression of corrupt governments
7. Greener environments and countries
8. Oppression of oppression
9. Development of third world countries
10. ? just surprise me for this one!
That’s all I really want Santa. I know you were expecting a list containing Ipods and Iphones since Christmas has become a consumerist holiday. The pagans would be ashamed. I hope it’s not too much to ask for, but I have faith in you Santa.
I asked god for these things once, but he didn’t seem to care or seemed powerless to do anything about them. So much for being omnipotent and all-loving. Oh well, I know you won’t let me down Santa.
Sincerely,
The Noose
